In 2000, the Millennium Development Goals were adopted. They set specific targets for the global community to attain by 2015 in order to address some of the biggest challenges in developing regions of the world. The reason was that while we had entered a new Millennium, we brought with us many of the challenges of the past --- poverty, disease, malnutrition, environmental degradation. We also brought with us, however, human ingenuity vibrantly manifested in a digital information age. As a result, we have never been closer as a global community and never more keenly aware of disparities in the human condition world-wide. We are compelled, therefore, as never before to establish more effective interaction and cooperation across borders. This is the focus of Trade Without Borders (TWB). TWB leverages the power of information technology and present-day global trading practices to forge global partnerships whose sole humanitarian aim is improving the livelihoods of those most in need in our world today.
